Publisher's Synopsis
Mr Cecil Roberts' new book is in one sense an autobiographical survey of the past decade on the lines of his delightful 'And so to Bath' but this time he turns his understanding gaze upon the United States. He went there in October, 1939, on a mission, convinced that the survival of Europe depended upon American intervention and afraid it might come too late. For five years he appeared in some 46 of the 48 States of the Union addressing hundreds of audiences on behalf of allied causes, for the British War Relief Society, British Ministry of Information, Bundles for Britain, Red Cross etc. He also served the British Embassy which utilised his wide experience of American affairs and history.
